i tried to load these but i failed, is it correct that these won’t work with 0.4.23?

That’s correct - they were made with firmware v0.3.25. I am currently updating them to v4 and will release them very soon. The last 7 videos are unreleased v4 addition demo’s

Here’s another 2 new additions demos

Ah, man, the Vectrex video on your Instagram is just lovely. How on earth do you get those high crisp tones? Love it. Really need to study a few of these custom units of yours once the ER-301 arrives.

Thanks, using the er301 for AV stuff is definitely doable by loading in stereo audio wav’s made using AV synths, to a any of the players. I used 3 channel outputs. Channel 1 and 2 left and right stereo outputs audio control the x / y coordinates of a Vectrex. On channel 3 the z input, the brightness is controlled by a sine wave internal oscillator. The audio is the actual audio to make the shapes. The Morphagene works for this also although you have to split and mark the samples on a computer first before importing. I know the er301 has AC outputs so no good for sending CV signals but for audio rate it is fine for video. I am looking at trying finding ways to view scan processed files. Its better to have higher conversion rates on the outputs, upto 192k but 96k and 48k is OK. This one below is at 48k playing a scan processed loop in the card player.

The next incarnation of Autogen is looking great, @mudlogger!

Imho, this is probably one of the most, if not the most inspiring thing that’s (Soon) in my eurorack. Many small fountains of chaotic sound, what’s not to love

This is autogen301 for v0.4.24 firmware - this has now increased from the original 15 units to 28 self generating custom units using 100% internal units and no samples. I made these to understand the patching system on the er301 through programming self generating patches and also some of the newer features in v4 firmware. I used some of these as backup patches in case I had problems when playing live - emergency patches  . They are also holiday patches made when I could only carry a small skiff.

There is deliberately minimal control - usually 2 sliders for cv control and occasionally none. You steer the ship to move in a particular direction. These are building blocks so please dig in and mess about with the patch settings to taste.

Loading Instructions :
You must have Joes “Accents” installed for them to play - Some new Units to share
2 units (Sway and Ambikarp ) use the wavetable single cycle oscillator. You need to self load the appropriate sample attached to each oscillator - see readme file
“Sway” also uses 1 scala scale - drop the associated file in the /ER301/scales folder for the Quantiser to read that particular scale - see readme file
I’m using firmware 48k v0.4.24 - so please upgrade if you don’t have.
If you use 96k firmware, most of these units will max out the CPU.
Note : due to CPU limits, only load one custom unit at a time or you will max out the system.
Unzip autogen301 to ER-301/v0.4/presets/units/custom-effect/xxxx
Unzip Accents to ER-301/libs/accents/xxxx

Click on “Custom Effect” in the menu.
Click on the custom effect self generated name (left side - not where it says “open”)
Load Preset -> goto ER-301/v0.4/presets/units/custom-effect/xxxx
Another alternative way to load custom units is to press “insert” in the bottom smaller window. Then move the cursor to “Presets” and load that way.
They are all mono units - so just connect audio out - and tweak the sliders.

Congratulations with the 0.4 upgrade! Happy these gems are back.

I noticed your instructions

Did you know you can skip that step and load presets from the insert menu directly?

Hey, thanks, Yes, I did know that, and it’s ok for loading the very first unit, the quicker way as you described. The problem is when you want to try a second preset. Because the units are high CPU I don’t want to use that way as loading another one the same way, inserts a second unit and maxes out the CPU and freezes the er301. So I would rather encourage people to use the menu system and load the next preset from the first “load preset” instead of inserting and adding a second unit on the same channel. What I’ll do, so everyone is covered, is add a line as an option and update. Thanks for mentioning it

Beautiful work! :100:

The replace operation might be relevant here also.

Thanks! I gave these units a quick spin earlier. It is really helpful to dive deeper into the chains to get a better understanding for certain sounds and techniques. Something that I also do a lot with the clavia micromodular. Thanks for sharing these and for the hard work you put into making these work with v4.

Followed, carefully, the installation instructions, went straight to the barbieri unit. What a unit. Now I understand what you mean by “steer the ship!”

There are 4 points of modulation and the final output which I’m thinking, put through an envelope follower for further control on another track with the same output… and so on :+1:

Thanks for such a lovely fun unit toy @mudlogger

ha… did i say 4 points of modulation… dope, thwack

thanks for sharing these. I’ve messed around with a couple and it is good to be able to see how they are made. Great for learning more about the 301.

Thanks everyone for trying out the patches! Much appreciated.

There is a lot of modulation in all the patches and it is the main reason why it took a long time converting v3 units over as I was also adding newer Accents units I hadn’t tried before, as well as sharing local destinations for cv modulation. I started to use Scala scales also as well as the pedal looper. So although there’s minimal control I was always looking at how 1 slider could
effect multiple parameters. The new user definable range in v4 helps keep the sliders in spec for finer control. The use of locals CV sharing, frees up a lot of CPU. It also allows the creation of much more complex patches. For some of the new v4 units, I tried to show how you can do melodic stuff without external sequencing.

For the melodic side im using Random CV and quantisers and ASR’s (using shared locals of CV / Clock and the micro (gate) delay). When you add the octave shifter you are into Ornaments and Crime Quantermain / Turing Machine territory. With Scala support you now have a few thousand scales to choose from  Another useful trick is Joes Accents Voltage Bank. It’s basically a programmable step sequencer / arpeggiator. You can chain them using a clock divider for constantly changing pattens. Or just use 1 voltage bank and voltage control the start point to get different patterns from the same sequence.

Without Joes Accents units most of these patches couldn’t be achieved. So thank you @Joe Every er301 user should have Accents on their machine as a default. And thank you @odevices for the big jump into v4. I still have a lot to learn with all the enhancements.
