Cirklon ER-301 Users Here?

 just ordered one and hoping to gain some insight with fellow Cirklon users that own and drive it with the Cirklon

There is an instagram user called betty.hammer who’s posting amazing vids apparently using the er-301 and a Cirklon.

Operating the ER-301 Sound Computer with the Cirklon

I have the Cirklon and ER-301 - together they’re pretty inspiring, and so easy to use them to generate songs/ideas. The Cirklon changed the modular for me - it allowed song structures without needing so many patch cables (and switches) - simplicity wins. And then the ER-301 changed it again by allowing a freedom with sample sizes (and quality). You can do so much.

Excited to see what people do with theirs!

I use both quite often. Ask me anything

Sold mine years ago, by the way :relaxed:

May I ask what you replaced it with?

yeah guys cool if you have a cirklon join the fb group. i’m wondering. what are some ideas you can drive the er301 via the cirklon.

Fancy that! 2 ER-301 users in regional NSW! (well, all but 2, mine’s however far away Australia Post decides to make it…which is usually further than anticipated!)

Well, Ableton Live and Yarns for most of my stuff, but also Max/MSP and ES-3 or Monome WW/Kria/Teletype.
I need either a big screen or no screen at all.

Ha, weird how you happen across a thread as you’re currently evaluating situations. I have Cirklon but since getting the ER-101/102 combo its been on midi duties mainly. Kind of thinking it would work really well with the ER-301 for structuring things. For Euro 101 is the Boss

Just to follow on from this, because it may seam weird not using the 101/102 with the 301. I think Cirklon would be more beneficial in situations where you want to recreate specific patterns/voices, simply because of the ability to name everything.
For shear enjoyment jamming, the 101 is by far my favourite sequencer tho!

And yeah, any questions about the mighty Cirk, fire away

cheers

That’s interesting. I’ve alreaday the ER-101/102 combo and except the ER-301 delivery for mid of september. I’m very happy with the ER-101/102 but was thinking about the Cirklon for more complex song structures.
What do you use for your master clock in sour system? The Cirklon?

So I’ve been REALLY eyeballing a cirklon myself and like this thread would be using it to control my modular and 301. What I’m wondering is if it does MPE. On the CV breakout it looks like it only has cv and gate outs. Does anyone know if there are customizable? IE: You can send whatever CV you want to them? Does the Cirklon understand MPE Midi?

The Cirklon doesn’t support MPE. CC editing is not exactly a strong suit of the Cirklon anyway, since editing is done through an event list. But it hasn’t bothered me in my years of Cirklon use. I think a graphical view might be in the works, but I’m not sure of the details.

You can assign velocity, bend, or CCs to the CV outputs. It’s all spelled out in the manual (available from the Sequentix downloads page). Colin is adding envelopes and hopefully other modulation sources (like LFOs) in a future release.

You are expecting something more? The gate outs can double as CV inputs, but this functionality has not yet been exposed.

Im curious about the cv in on the Cirklon aswell for rec cv.
Any user got some good hints to get it done. I should ask at Collins forum and by the way, envelopes r going to be lots of fun for sequencing filters and almost everything.

Well yeah. For it to support MPE it would need more outs than just those two per voice, but you answered my question very well. Thank you! Looks like as of right now the Cirklon isn’t the ultimate sequencer for me.
