ER-101: Display bug

Hi everyone,

I’m experiencing a visual bug in my ER-101 whereby the red bottom line of the CV-A display won’t light up for the left-hand digit when it should, like:

In the picture above the digit on the left should be a ‘3’.
Has anyone experienced this or does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix it? Thank you in advance.

Assuming this happens to the following displayed numbers (0, 2, 3, 5, 6, 8), and that your firmware version is the latest public (2.9), then I would say this is a hardware issue (i.e. the LED in the segment display has failed).

I bought it new in 2021 directly from Brian so I assume it came with firmware v2.9. The issue does occur for all digits that include the faulty LED. I had had my system powered on continuously for about five days when I noticed the issue. It is probably safe to assume it is a hardware issue indeed.
What would be the best way to get this fixed, considering I don’t have any experience with electronics myself? Is it difficult to get the LED component replaced?

These are the segment displays used in ER101 as advised my Brian sometime ago.

If Brian is unable to help you, a repair would come down to your disassembly and soldering skills. From memory, the segment displays are on separate daughter boards and can be repaired.

If you aren’t able to find anyone in your locality and If you aren’t comfortable with this process, I’d be happy to repair it for you. Problem is, I’m based in Australia.

Thanks a lot for helping me identify the segment display and for offering to repair it for me, I really appreciate it!
I placed an order for the component and found someone to help me with soldering it so I should get this fixed fairly soon.
Many thanks again for your help @cackland!
