Sample player gate option & loop toggle

Hi all, is it possible to use a gate as a sample gate instead of a trigger, so that the sample slice will start on gate rise and stop on gate fall, without rigging up a VCA into the chain?

If not, does this seem like a reasonable addition to the existing sample trigger settings? Maybe by using the hold-and-scroll pattern on the “fire” param in the trigger settings view? Or would this be enough of a divergence to belong in a different sample player unit altogether?

Also, for one-shot type samples, is it possible to prevent looping when the playhead reaches the end of a file with no set slices? I’ve been getting around this by entering into slice mode and adding a slice point very near the end of the sample, but it’s a bit of a pain. Same suggestion here - does it seem reasonable to add a loop on/off toggle param to the sample unit?

Thanks!

I think these types of things are behaviors that should be easier in the type of sample player units I’m understanding Brian is working on.

In the meantime, it should be possible to set a gate to both trigger and modulate speed to 1 from 0.

This has been discussed at length, the start is here:

And it moves on to another thread from that post.

Hope this helps

Ah, great - thank you, kel!

Nice. This is a better solution than the VCA one I was using. Thanks.
