Sample Player latency?

I’m using the sample player to trigger percussion samples via a Gx input. There seems to be a small but perceptible latency introduced between the trigger arriving and the sample starting to play. Has anyone else noticed this and are there any workarounds? My chain consists of a sample player only, no other units currently.

are the samples edited with no slack off the top? That, and/or is the zero crossing off the slice too early?
