Weird behaviour - 1v/oct (damage?)

Hi everyone. Just noticed a really weird behaviour that I think could be useful to leave here. I fear that can be something related to hardware. Basically, the same pitch sequence sent to different inputs on the ER301 (in this case B1 and A3) generates distinct sequences on the same Sin Osc IF it passes by a octave transposer (ALM Beast’s Chalkboard).

Patch is extremely simple:

Rene QCV - ER301 B1 In (assigned to 1v/oct on a Sin Osc)

In this setting I can change the 1v/oct input on the ER301 and the behaviour is always normal.

IF I add the Beast’s Chalkboard between the Rene QCV and the ER301 (to transpose octaves) and if the 1v/oct input is B1 the sequence detunes a lot. If a retune the Sin Osc and change octave it detunes again.

If I just use another input, like A3, the behaviour is normal again even if using the octave transposer.

Could be something damaged on the B1 input? Appreciatte if @odevices could check this out.

Thanks

Can I have actual numbers please? For example:

  1. Start with a blank ER-301 and have nothing patched into the Chalkboard and ER-301.
  2. In admin > System Settings, set the displayed value to ‘actual’.
  3. Insert an Offset Unit in OUT1 and set its modulation gain to 10 (ten) and leave the bias at 0.
  4. Assign A1 to modulate the offset.
  5. Patch the Chalkboard’s Out to A1.
  6. Note and record the 5 offset values when Chalkboard is set to -2, -1, 0, +1, and +2, respectively.
  7. Repeat the last steps 4-6 for the remaining ABCD inputs, always using the same patch cable.

Please report back with the 5 values for each of the ABCD inputs. Something like this:

A1: -2.000, -1.000, 0.000, 1.000, 2.000
A2: -2.000, -1.000, 0.000, 1.000, 2.000
.
.
.
D3: -2.000, -1.000, 0.000, 1.000, 2.000

Thanks @odevices. Will report back tomorrow

Well, I was really curious… here it is:

Thank you.

Could you please repeat the test with only your Rene for A1, B1, C1, and D1?

Hi @odevices

Not sure if it’s what you wanted but I used 5 different notes on the rene (QCV out). Here’s the results:

A1: 1.583, 2.834, 1.833, 2.585, 0.837

B1: 1.583, 2.834, 1.833, 2.585, 0.837

C1: 1.583, 2.834, 1.833, 2.585, 0.837

D1: 1.584, 2.835, 1.833, 2.586, 0.838
